SafeConf
GD2021 is being held in accordance to the hygiene concept of the University of Tübingen.
We have summarized in key points the most important information for you in the following, as well as additional measures, which we deem important for our safety during the symposium.
Compulsory wearing of medical masks
Wearing medical face masks is mandatory in all areas during the symposium, other than when eating or drinking. This also applies outdoors if the necessary minimal distance is not maintained.
We will provide face masks at the welcome reception but feel free to bring your own medical face masks as well.
Lateral flow tests
For your safety, everybody participating to GD2021 has to either have proof of immunization or bring an at most 48h old negative PCR test certificate for SARS-CoV-2 upon arrival.
- Participants with no proof of immunization will be additionally required to provide a certified SARS-CoV-2 antigen test on a daily basis; we will instruct you where to obtain one.
- For the rest of the participants, daily lateral flow rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen self tests will be offered for free.
The negative results will be required for participating to the daily symposium’s sessions.
Number of participants - Distancing
The seating capacities of both lecture halls (N10 and N11) that will be used for the symposium’s sessions are significantly reduced due to the distancing regulations (participants can use only marked seats). We will offer a video transmission solution between two rooms (and also to the remote participants).
Please ensure a minimum distance of at least 1.5 meters to other people at all times.
Hygiene policy
Face masks will be provided to the participants at the welcome reception for free.
Hand disinfectant dispensers can be found in the entrance of the building as well as in the entrance of each of the two lecture halls (N10 and N11) that will be used for the symposium sessions.
Public areas as well as frequently touched surfaces are disinfected by the University cleaning staff.
During the coffee breaks, biscuits and other coffee and tea supplies are packed and served in accordance with the hygiene rules.

If you are using public transportation (like trains, busses, taxis, airplanes, airports, train stations, bus stops, and so on) and during contacts in a public space, wearing a medical face mask (CE-certified: surgical mask type FFP2, FFP3, N95, or KN95) is mandatory.
Conduct in case of suspicion of illness
If you have symptoms as described be the Robert Koch Institute (in German) like fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of sense of smell (anosmia), inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane (rhinitis), sore throat, or general fatigue, then please retire to the symposium immediately and inform the organizers, who will contact the health authority. The further procedure is carried out in close coordination with the local health authority. The local health authority will contact you itself as needed.
We hope that these measures will contribute to making you feel comfortable and safe during your stay GD2021!
